This site has been set up as a platform for, we hope, a fair and reasoned debate on one small Irish issue. Was County Clare once part of Connaught and if so should it join Connaught again? (and even if it wasn't should it be?) Rumour has it that in the not so distant past Clare as a bona fide member of that illustrious group of counties west of the Shannon was in fact regarded as part of Connaught. Oliver Cromwell with his "To Hell or Connaught" probably thought so and we have found maps and other evidence that might lead to this conclusion.
